When a company infringed upon her parents’ trademark for their Las Vegas restaurant, a teenage Bryttni Yi committed her future to helping others protect their brands. Today, she is pursuing a juris doctor in addition to a certificate in intellectual property, media, and information law at Brooklyn Law School.
“I thought it was so unfair that another business could try to capitalize off of the brand my parents’ worked so hard to establish,” she said. “This type of unfair competition and unjust enrichment is exactly what I hope to prevent as an intellectual property attorney.”
Bryttni joined the RLG team as a law clerk in the summer of 2020. She supports our attorneys by conducting legal research and preparing court documents for intellectual property matters and a wide array of the First Amendment cases that we take on.
In addition to her work with us, she is a student practitioner at the Brooklyn Law Incubator & Policy Clinic where she represents clients in trademark matters before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and counsels them on transactional and intellectual property matters. Bryttni was also recently appointed to be editor of her school’s entertainment and sports law blog for the upcoming year.
Bryttni says in addition protecting her client’s brands, she aspires to revolutionize the law surrounding intellectual property rights to be commensurate with a modern world.
She grew up in Las Vegas where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and was a competitive figure skater for 10 years.
