If the news coverage of this case is accurate, I can’t see how the jury could have returned any other verdict. The Baltimore Sun previously reported: “U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett instructed jurors at the start of testimony Tuesday that the First Amendment protection of free speech has limits, including vulgar, offensive and shocking statements. (source)”
That alone should be sufficient for a reversal on appeal.
