Delaware Online reports:

The Delaware Republican Party’s standard-bearer in the 2006 race for U.S. Senate has been expelled from his position in the state GOP.

Apparently he gave $250 to the Obama campaign and was photographed at an Obama rally. Oops.

In all fairness, the Democrats are no better. I’ve been a registered Republican for 8 years. However, in 2004, I volunteered to work for the Kerry campaign’s poll watching crew because I believed that Republican efforts to suppress black votes were shameful. Someone found my name on a list and gave me a pretty big ration of shit over it and asked me to explain my loyalty. I told them if I had to do that, they could go shit in their hats. They backed down (but then again, most liberals don’t have the spine to stand up to my cat, let alone an angry Sicilian).

I do not, and will never, blindly follow any party. My allegiance is to the Constitution, and the candidate or cause that strengthens that document’s mandates will get my labor, vote, money, and support every time.

Yes, I’m a registered Republican and card-carrying member of the NRA. Nevertheless, I too gave money to the Obama campaign, attended an Obama rally, shook Obama’s hand, and I very well may vote for him in November.

If the Republican party has a problem with that, I’ll be washing my ass in a few minutes so that they have a nice clean surface to kiss.
